Stephen Ministers

Stephen Ministers are lay people who have the gifts and training to provide a ministry of presence to people in times of crisis.  Stephen Ministers go through an initial 50 hours of training in topics and skills related to caring ministry.  They are commissioned by the congregation, matched with people in need, and provide ongoing pastoral care to people experiencing times of transition or loss.  Stephen Ministers receive regular support and supervision, and abide by a strict rule of confidentiality. 

Stephen Ministry is a blessing – both to those who receive care and to those who give it.  We encourage people who feel called to a ministry of care to consider being trained as a Stephen Minister.  And if you or someone you love is going through a difficult time, we encourage you to let one of the ministers know.  Some times all we need is a companion on the journey.
