2016 -2017 Calendar
December 21: “Merry Melody” – CODA: Community Outreach of Devoted Artists – This musical ensemble consists of a variety of local high school aged chamber musicians who volunteer their time and talents to perform. They have prepared a wonderful program of Christmas and Classical music for our gathering. You won’t want to miss it!
February 15: “el Salvador” – J. Atlee Horner III- You are invited to hear about an ecumenical non-profit supporting an orphanage for children in El Salvador.
March 15: “Faith, Ethnicity and Tolerance in Indonesia Today” – Lee Makela, Ph.D- An examination of the current state of cultural and religious tolerance among Christians, Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists on the two Indonesian islands of Java and Bali in historical perspective and as experienced by Lee and Heidi Makela during a two week tour during April of 2016.
April 19: “Book Collecting 101” – Harriet Logan – The owner of Loganberry Books in Cleveland’s Larchmere neighborhood shares with us the basics of book collecting. What makes a book collectible? Is there a formula to determine what’s hot and what’s not? Is there a future for paper? While all speculation is subjective, this bookseller can help take some of the mystery out of the field, even if it’s non-fiction. Bring a book or two for consultation!
May 17: “Reflections on Antarctica” – Jeannie Chaney – Come enjoy another travelogue as one of Plymouth’s own shares images and reflections from her adventure cruise to Antarctica, a place few of us have seen with our own eyes. It’s sure to be a fascinating journey!
Our monthly luncheon is prepared by Plymouth Church’s own, chef Hans Hunziker, owner of At Home Bistro Personal Chef and Catering in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
