Scripture:  Luke 12: 28-34

This passage of scripture gives us the words of Jesus.  He admonishes the crowd by saying, “Oh ye of little faith.” Then the passage ends with “Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

How much treasure do we buy each year to put under the Christmas tree? How much do we value it?  Many of the folks at the Jersey Shore and in New York City have seen their worldly treasure be reduced to nothing.  How can they possibly look at the ruins and think of starting again?

God must become very personal in times of great tragedy.  Many people must wonder how God could bring such a huge storm that it destroyed whole neighborhoods.  But God looks out for even those of little faith.  By God’s grace they have patience, strength, and fortitude and their hearts are there also.

And so they begin again

Oh Mighty God, as we celebrate the birth of your son, Jesus Christ, speak to those who suddenly have nothing, and make them feel their treasure in family and friends. Instill in their hearts the faith to begin new lives.
