Sunday, February 17, 2008 interested members of the congregation will gather over lunch in Fellowship Hall after worship to work through a questionnaire designed to gauge the interest of our congregation in various aging / “Aging in Place” issues.  We will briefly explore such topics as maintaining a safe home environment and obtaining needed services at home; keeping physically fit, mentally alert and socially engaged; preserving financial health; and pre-planning end-of-life issues.

Guided by responses to that questionnaire, a series of programs relating to these topics and the possibility of establishing a home-grown “aging in place” initiative will follow during the months ahead.

Sign up sheets for the lunch can be found over the next few weeks in the usual place in the hallway behind the sanctuary.

In the meantime look for a Coffee Hour table hosted by FOSSIL FUEL regulars interested in talking with you about concerns and topics you might wish to see placed on our agenda.  We will have copies available of an informative article appearing in a recent issue of the Harvard University alumni magazine as well as a guide to senior living resources currently available in the Cleveland area.  Watch, too, for the new web site devoted to cataloging local options and useful resources already making “Aging in Place” possible in the Cleveland area.

Whatever your own personal “stage in life,” we hope you’ll help us all think ahead about how we might explore together future possibilities making “Aging in Place” more of a practical reality in our own community.
